We hope you find plenty to do this summer in Ocean City America’s Greatest Family Resort!
Many of the programs are popular and fill up quickly, so participants are encouraged to take a look at what’s available in advance and be ready to sign up on Saturday, May 3, 2025. Registration opens 9 a.m. Online registration will be through the new RecDesk system (ocnj.recdesk.com), and anybody can create an account there to manage program and event registrations, as well as Aquatic and Fitness Center memberships. In-person registration will be available at the Ocean City Community Center (1735 Simpson Avenue) and the Ocean City Civic Center (Sixth Street and Boardwalk).

COME PLAY WITH THE POPS! This week-long music camp gives students the opportunity to play along with and learn from the Ocean City Pops Orchestra conductor Vince Lee and professional musicians. The grand finale is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to perform music from the Marvel superheroes movies with the OC Pops in front of a live audience!

Discover the wonders of our beaches. Learn the names of the many various shells. Understand the important role of the barrier islands. Do experiments on erosion and make beach crafts. Find out about the ways of sharks. Friday will be a beach day exploring the northern end of our island. Learn all about our local habitat! Enjoy the wonders of a field trip to The Wetlands Institute. Explore native exotic wildlife! We will learn about local birds, bugs, turtles, and crabs and see some in person at the 9th Street bridge rookery. We will also take a trip to the zoo, and meet other wildlife from all over the world. Build bird houses, plant some pollinator-friendly flowers, and make a mask of your favorite animal!

Learn the fundamentals of crabbing in the bay. Cast nets and traps to see if a crab can be caught! Learn about the different crabs and critters that live in the bays and beaches. Go on a crabbing boat and catch some blue claws. Friday will be a beach day exploring the northern end of our island. See where hermit crabs and ghost crabs live!

Ahoy Matey! Get ready to embark on a pirate's journey. Create a pirate name and take the pirate code. Learn about the lives of real pirates like Blackbeard, Anne Bonny, and Sam Bellamy. Try hardtack and create a treasure chest. Find some hidden treasure and make many pirate crafts. On Thursday we venture to the Sea Dragon for a real voyage on the Great Egg Harbor Bay.

Explore the wonderful world of force, motion, and energy and how they relate to many boardwalk attractions. Do various experiments to illustrate force, gravity, and motion function. Play with stomp rockets, design roller coasters and test what you have learned with an egg drop experiment. On Thursday, travel to the boardwalk to visit an arcade, play a round of Golden Galleon Golf and ride on Pier 9 Go Karts.

This week we will visit the beach and play classic beach games and sports! On Friday, August 1st, campers will take a field trip to the OC Water Park for a morning of fun and slides! (Drop off for field trip day will be at the 6th street basketball courts, 6th & Boardwalk) Campers should wear their bathing suits all week, bring a towel labeled with their name, and a drink and snack (Nut free)

Jr. Guard Competition Team is a program geared toward rescuing skills and competition. This is for the junior who has great water skills, strong swimming and is looking to perfect the sport of surf racing.
Tuesdays & Thursdays starting June 26th
Requirements: 11 -12 years olds - Swim 300 meters in 8:00 minutes or less and run 1/2 miles in 4:30 minutes or less
13 - 15 year olds - Swim 300 meters in 7:30 minutes or less and run 1/2 mile in 4:15 minutes or less
Additional testing will be in the 100 meter swim and 100 meter dash.

Rules:
1. Helmets, elbow pads, and knee pads are required at all times when skateboarding.
2. Skateboard Park will be closed during inclement weather and/or when equipment is damaged, wet, or for routine maintenance.
3. Skateboard Park is for skateboards ONLY. Bikes, scooters, roller skates/blades are prohibited.
4. No food or glass in the skateboarding area.
5. Parental supervision for inexperienced skateboarders and those less than 12 years of age is strongly recommended.
6. No amplified sound is permitted except by permit.
7. No defacing of property with stickers, paint, wax, markers, etc.
8. Skateboarding is prohibited on the adjacent parking lots, sidewalks, and streets.

Casting will begin the first day of camp for a two-week rehearsal process of the musical.
"OFF THEIR ROCKERS"
Keeping with the tradition of offering a fantastic theatre experience for youth, Ocean City Theatre Company's annual collaboration with the City Recreation Division returns. Camp will feature acting games, song and dance activities, trips to the Music Pier for the Tuesday morning Children's Series and a hilarious fully-staged musical entitled, "OFF THEIR ROCKERS". The musical takes place in a senior center where all is quiet and calm and perhaps a bit boring; that is until the Center Director decides to use music and dance to bring fun and excitement into the lives of the seniors. Through songs and dances that were very much a part of the seniors' past, the Director, along with friends and family, encourage the seniors to get "off their rockers" and join in on the fun. Songs include: "Old Time Rock and Roll", "The Banjo's Back in Town", "Rock Around the Clock", 'At the Hop", "The Peppermint Twist", and "Dancin' in the Street"

SURF CHAIR PROGRAM
Beach Accessible Wheelchairs
46th St & West Ave. Welcome Center
Hours: 9am- 5pm
Beach accessible program for mobility/limited individuals of all ages. Now “Surf Chairs” can provide an opportunity for everyone to enjoy the surf and sand. Must use from 46th St.pick up facility or have large vehicle to transport.

SHUTTLE CHAIRS
Beach Accessible Wheelchairs (Surf Chairs) are located at the following life guard stations: 1st Street, 12th Street, 34th Street, 59th Street - All these locations have public restrooms)
These chairs are used for shuttling a person to your spot on the beach, transfer them to a regular chair, and returning the surf chair back the lifeguard station so another person can use. Once you are ready to leave the beach, you can bring the surf chair back from the lifeguard station to shuttle your person up and off the beach.
Shuttle chairs can only be used on that lifeguard station's beach i.e. you cannot use the chair to push a person 3 blocks down. Shuttle chairs must be returned quickly so others may use. There is no reservation needed for a shuttle chair. It is on a first come, first serve basis. You will need to have someone who can push the chair with the person in it. Lifeguards cannot push people to their spots.

HANDICAPPED BEACH ACCESS & RESTROOMS
Handicapped beach access is provided at Stenton Place, 1st, Pennlyn, 3rd, Park Place, 4th, Brighton Place, 5th, 6th, Music Pier, 11th -18th, 20th, 26th, 35th - 46th, 50th - 59th Streets.
Direct access at 23rd, 29th, 30th, 34th, 48th, 57th Streets and Morningside.
Accessible bathrooms are located on the Boardwalk at 1st, 6th, Moorlyn Terrace, and 12th Streets.

REGISTRATION POLICY
All registration for activities are handled on a first come, first serve basis for residents and seasonal vacationers. Program announcements will be distributed through schools and at www.ocnj.us.
Any program requiring a deadline for registration will be noted on the program information flyer. A waiting list will be maintained for some programs. If an opening becomes available in a closed program that space will be offered to the first person on the waiting list.
The Ocean City Community Services Department and the Division of Recreation Programs reserves the right to cancel or make changes to any program due to lack of registration, inclement weather or reasons beyond our control. Programs, dates and times are subject to change due to the availability of facilities.
Program cancellation due to inclement weather will be posted online at www.ocnj.us or call (609) 525-9304.
The Division of Recreation insists that a child should never be left at an activity or program before the person in charge arrives to accept responsibility for that participant. It is the obligation of the parent or guardian to be aware of program schedule and times.
Acceptable methods of payment: Visa, MasterCard, Discover, cash or
checks payable to: “City of Ocean City.”

Refund Policy – No refunds will be given after a program begins. Refunds will be approved only if the activity is canceled, or for medical reasons if the refund request is made in writing (3) days before the activity begins. A COPY OF YOUR RECEIPT SHOULD ACCOMPANY YOUR REQUEST
The City of Ocean City has set the following guidelines for registration fees for our Recreation and Aquatic & Fitness Center programs:
- In order to request a refund, a written email should be sent to VPuga@ocnj.us with a detailed explanation for the request. After the request has been made, the city will review and make a decision on its status.
- Refunds will only be made for canceled programs or medical reasons before the start of the program. Please provide a doctors note at the time of request.
- Any Covid related refunds will require a medical note, no at home test photos will be accepted
- Refunds will not be made for scheduling conflicts or dissatisfaction with program/team, etc.
The dollar amount will be prorated dependent on how much of the program/season has passed. Credit card payments will be returned to the card within 5-7 business days. Cash and check payments will be returned by check, which may take 2-3 weeks for processing.
The City of Ocean City reserves the right to waive this refund policy at its discretion at any time.
