OCNJ First Day 5K Run/Walk

In what has become a New Year's Day tradition, runners start the new year with a 5-kilometer run on the Ocean City Boardwalk. The event is part of Ocean City's First Night/First Day celebrations, which also include a 2 p.m. "First Dip" in the Atlantic Ocean.

REGISTRATION

• Online registration: ocnj.recdesk.com
• Race-day registration: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Ocean City Music Pier (Boardwalk at Moorlyn Terrace). Same hours for packet pickup (race day only).
• Registration fees: $25 through Dec. 24, 2023, then $30 Dec. 25-29. Advance registration closes 2 p.m. Dec. 29. (correction to earlier typo) Race-day registration is $35. 
• Registration includes: First Day lunch cooler for all pre-registered and as supplies last on race day. Available to the first 400 registrants. Pre-registration is now over 400.

RACE AND COURSE INFORMATION

The race will start and finish at the Ocean City Music Pier (Boardwalk at Moorlyn Terrace). The out-and-back course is entirely on the Boardwalk with a turnaround at 23rd Street.

• Beneficiaries: All proceeds benefit Ocean City Recreation Scholarships and Programs. Entry Fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.

AWARD CATEGORIES

• Overall: Male and female top three (awards will be based on gun time for overall winners).
• Age group: Top three in the following age groups: 9-and-under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-and-over. (Age group awards will be based on chip time.)
