April 3, 2026
Dear Friends,
I want to invite you all to a mayor’s town hall meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 11 at the Ocean City Free Public Library (1735 Simpson Avenue).
The city team and our contractors are working on improvements throughout the town. Cape May County and our utility companies are also in the midst of major infrastructure repairs and upgrades. At the same time, we’re in the process of designing a number of new and essential projects.
The April 11 meeting will let everyone know where we stand on these projects and what we can expect. Questions will be welcomed. We’ll make video of the meeting available to anybody who cannot attend in person.
Registration for our popular summer recreation programs will open at 9 a.m. tomorrow (Saturday, April 4). Visit ocnj.us/summer-recreation-programs for more information and to sign up.
Saturday’s forecast looks mild, and families with kids age 7 and under are encouraged to visit Boardwalk shops to collect eggs filled with toys and candy during the Great Egg Hunt from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Visits with the Easter Bunny will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at Mark Soifer Park (9th Street and Asbury Avenue).
I want to encourage everybody to attend the non-denominational Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m. Sunday at the Ocean City Music Pier. This event has always been one of my favorites. A Dueling Pianos show will start at noon on Sunday in front of the Music Pier, while the Easter Bunny meets children for photos in an Ocean City lifeguard boat.
This week's "Inside City Hall" video (see below) includes a look at Ocean City Fire Department training at the old police station, students planting dune grass, the reopening of the Dog Park and more.
Michele and I would like to say Happy Easter and Happy Passover to all who will be celebrating this weekend, and we hope you get a chance to spend time with family and friends.
Warm regards,
Jay A. Gillian
Mayor
