On February 23, 2026, CMCMUA Operations personnel discovered a break in a 20-inch diameter force main near 3149 West Avenue. Operations personnel isolated the break and stopped the leak.

The extent of road undermining on West Avenue in the area is unknown. Out of an abundance of caution, the CMCMUA coordinated with Ocean City officials and decided to close West Avenue between 32nd and 31st Streets. 

Commencing February 24, 2026, the CMCMUA's contractor will begin repairing the force main and restoring West Avenue. Repair efforts are expected to continue throughout the week. The CMCMUA will communicate more information as it becomes available.
