The community has always been generous in donating time and services for the betterment of Ocean City, and the Environmental Operations Division offers a number of volunteer opportunities.

New Jersey Clean Communities Council

• The city hosts a number of citywide cleanups, including the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service and semi-annual Clean Ocean Action Beach Sweeps. The city also hosts an “Adopt A Beach” program in which individuals or groups can adopt a specific stretch of the beach to clean up twice a year.

Other volunteer opportunities can include the planting of dune grass or beach plums to help strengthen the city’s protective dune system.
