The Ocean City Fire Department will hold a change-of-command and swearing-in ceremony at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 27 at Ocean City Fire Headquarters (550 Asbury Avenue).

Ocean City’s new fire chief, Bernard Walker, will be sworn in during the event, a fire department tradition. The ceremony also will include the swearing-in of John Quigley Jr. as a battalion chief and Ryan Stamm as a captain.

Retiring Fire Chief James P. Smith will be honored for his 30 years of service to the department, and he will participate in the change of command.

The ceremony is open to the public.
