Special Weather Statement: 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025 The National Weather Service has extended a Coastal Flood Advisory for Ocean City, Strathmere and nearby coastal areas through 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025. Strong northeast winds and high tides from a recent full moon will continue to push water into the back bays and cause “minor” coastal flooding. Water levels reached 5.78 feet on the mean low water (MLW) scale on Wednesday morning, and they are expected to reach similar levels during high tides on Wednesday night and Thursday morning. If your street experienced flooding conditions this morning, please be prepared to move vehicles well in advance of high tides at 11:05 p.m. Wednesday night (5.5 feet MLW predicted) and 11:31 a.m. Thursday morning (5.6 feet MLW predicted). Visit www.ocnj.us/octides to compare these predictions to other recent and historic tide levels. The roads closer to the beach including Central and Wesley avenues are typically at higher elevation. For your safety and the protection of your vehicle and neighboring properties, never drive on any street covered by water. Please do not disregard barricades on flooded streets. Rough surf and strong currents will continue throughout the week. Swim only at a guarded beach, and respect all guidance from beach patrol lifeguards, who will likely issue swimming restrictions of varying degrees. For Police & Fire Department emergencies, call 911. For non-emergencies, call 609-399-9111. |
