Ocean City Office of Emergency Management

Special Weather Statement:

2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025

The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory in effect for Ocean City, Strathmere and nearby coastal areas from 8 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 9) through 3 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 10).

Strong northeast winds and high tides from a recent full moon will push water into the back bays and cause “minor” coastal flooding.

Water levels are predicted to crest in the hours around high tide on the bay side (Ninth Street Bridge) of Ocean City at 10:17 p.m. Tuesday and 10:41 a.m. Wednesday. High tides on the bay side of Strathmere near Corson’s Inlet are at 9:56 p.m. Tuesday and 10:21 a.m. Wednesday. The NWS predicts a peak water level of 5.6 feet on the mean low water scale (MLW) for Tuesday night at 5.9 feet MLW for Wednesday morning. Visit www.ocnj.us/octides to compare this prediction to other recent and historic tide levels.

Residents should be prepared to monitor conditions and to move vehicles to safe places well in advance of these high tides. The roads closer to the beach including Central and Wesley avenues are typically at higher elevation. Parking will be available at the Trinity United Methodist Church at 20 North Shore Road in Marmora (please read letter from Trinity if you take advantage of this service).

For your safety and the protection of your vehicle and neighboring properties, never drive on any street covered by water. Please do not disregard barricades on flooded streets.

Rough surf and strong currents will continue throughout the week. Swim only at a guarded beach, and respect all guidance from beach patrol lifeguards, who will likely issue swimming restrictions of varying degrees.

For Police & Fire Department emergencies, call 911. For non-emergencies, call 609-399-9111.
