The Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority (CMCMUA) is replacing/rehabilitating the force mains that carry wastewater to the treatment plant on the bay at 45th Street. The work will be on 31st Street from Haven Avenue to Bay Avenue; and Bay Avenue from 31st Street to Eighth Street.

By the end of the day (Friday, Nov. 6), the contractor will have slip-lined the existing 20" diameter DIP line with a new 16" diameter HDPE, going north from 31st Street to a point about 200 feet south of 25th Street on Bay Avenue. The pull pit that was located about 200 feet north of 28th Street has been backfilled and temporary paved. The pull pit that is south of 25th Street will remain open and secure over the weekend.

Next week, the Contractor will excavate another pull pit at a location about 200 feet south of 22nd Street and continue slip-lining operations going northward.

Over the weekend, Bay Avenue will be open to two lanes of traffic with lane shifts around the open pull pit near 25th Street. Next week, Bay Avenue will be open to local traffic only between 34th Street and 18th Street. Once the pull pit near 25th Street is backfilled and temporary paved, the local traffic restriction will be limited to between 24th and 18th Streets.
