The Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority (CMCMUA) is replacing/rehabilitating the force mains that carry wastewater to the treatment plant on the bay at 45th Street. The work will be on 31st Street from Haven Avenue to Bay Avenue; and Bay Avenue from 31st Street to Eighth Street.

The contractor has completed all the connections at the tie-in pit located on 31st Street near Haven Avenue. This pit has been backfilled and temporary paved. The pull/push pit located at the intersection of 31st Street and Bay Avenue will remain open and secure throughout the weekend.

On Friday (Oct. 16, 2020), the contractor is excavating a second pull/push pit on Bay Avenue in the vicinity of 29th Street,1,000 feet north of the pit at 31st Street. Next week, these pits will be used to continue the sliplining of the existing 20" diameter DIP line with the new 16" HDPE pipe.

This weekend, Bay Avenue will be completely open with traffic diverted via lane shifts around the two pull/push pits. 31st Street will be open to local traffic only from West Avenue to Bay Avenue due to the presence of the pit at 31st Street and Bay Avenue.
