The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory in effect for Ocean City from 8 p.m. Friday (Sept. 18, 2020) to 2 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 19, 2020).

Steady northeast winds gusting up to 35 mph and higher-than-normal new moon tides are predicted to combine to cause minor flooding over several tide cycles this weekend. The advisory is likely to be extended through Sunday.

Water levels are expected to peak in the hours around high tide on the bay side of Ocean City at the following times:

• 9:49 p.m. Friday (a water level of 5.8 feet on the MLW scale is predicted)

• 10:19 a.m. Saturday (5.8 feet)

• 10:38 p.m. Saturday (5.5 feet)

• 11:10 a.m. Sunday (5.9 feet)

• 11:30 p.m. Sunday (5.4 feet)

Residents should monitor conditions and be prepared to move vehicles from areas that typically experience tidal flooding. The roads closer to the beach including Central and Wesley avenues are typically at higher elevation. For your safety and the protection of your vehicle and neighboring properties, never attempt to drive through flood waters, and do not drive around barricades.
