The Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority (CMCMUA) is replacing/rehabilitating the force mains that carry wastewater to the treatment plant on the bay at 45th Street. The work will be on 31st Street from Haven Avenue to Bay Avenue; and Bay Avenue from 31st Street to Eighth Street.

Work for Jan. 6-11:

As of the end of Friday (1/3/20), the contractor’s south crew will have installed new PVC pipe, backfilled and, weather permitting, temporarily paved from 31st Street, going northward, up to a point approximately 450' south of 22nd Street. The contractor's north crew will have completed similar work from 15th Street, going southward, to a point about 300' north of 18th Street.

From Monday (1/6/20) to Friday (1/11/20), the work will continue in the same direction for both crews. It is anticipated that the north crew will cross 18th Street near the Intermediate School in the later part the week.

Traffic

For the weekend (1/4/20 – 1/5/20), Bay Avenue will be open to two lanes of traffic with lane shifts around stored materials and equipment.

On Monday (1/6/20) Bay will again be closed from 24th to 14th streets.  Traffic detours will be established to divert motorists to West Ave. The Authority will be coordinating with City and School officials early next week to finalize traffic patterns for school motorists.
