The Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority (CMCMUA) is replacing/rehabilitating the force mains that carry wastewater to the treatment plant on the bay at 45th Street. The work will be on 31st Street from Haven Avenue to Bay Avenue; and Bay Avenue from 31st Street to Eighth Street.

Work for Dec. 23 to Jan. 3:

By the end of the day Friday (12/20/19), the contractor’s south crew will have installed new PVC pipe, backfilled and temporarily paved to a point midway between 24th and 23rd streets. The north crew will have progressed southward and completed the same work to a point about 100 feet north of 17th Street.

From Monday (12/23/19) to Friday (1/3/20), the work will continue in the same directions for both crews. There will be no work on Christmas Day or New Year's Day.

Traffic

For the weekend (12/21/19 – 12/22/19), Bay Avenue will be open to two lanes of traffic with lane shifts around stored materials and equipment. The same pattern will be in effect for the weekend of Dec. 28-29 and on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

On Monday (12/23/19) and on subsequent work days, Bay Avenue will be closed from 24th to 14th streets.  Traffic detours will be established to divert motorists to West Avenue with a police traffic director stationed at 14th Street to assist in traffic control.
