The Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority (CMCMUA) is replacing/rehabilitating the force mains that carry wastewater to the treatment plant on the bay at 45th Street. The work will be on 31st Street from Haven Avenue to Bay Avenue; and Bay Avenue from 31st Street to Eighth Street.

Work for the week of Dec. 9 to 13:

As of the end of the day Friday (12/6/19), the contractor’s north crew will have installed new PVC pipe, backfilled and paved from 15th Street going south to a point about 150 feet north of 16th Street. The south crew will have done the same work going north to a point about 150 feet south of 25th Street.

From Monday (12/9/19) to Friday (12/13/19), the work will continue in the same direction for both crews.

Traffic

For the weekend (12/7/19 – 12/8/19), Bay Avenue will be open to two lanes of traffic with lane shifts around stored materials and equipment.

On Monday (12/9/19), Bay Avenue will again be closed from 34th to 14th streets.  Traffic detours will be established to divert motorists to West Avenue with a police traffic director stationed at 14th Street to assist in traffic control. At some point within the next two weeks, the south crew will proceed north of 24th Street. Once this happens, Bay Avenue will be closed between 24th and 14th streets.
