The Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority (CMCMUA) is replacing/rehabilitating the force mains that carry wastewater to the treatment plant on the bay at 45th Street. The work will be on 31st Street from Haven Avenue to Bay Avenue; and Bay Avenue from 31st Street to Eighth Street.

Work for the week of Nov. 18 to 22:

As of the end of Friday (Nov. 15, 2019), the contractor will have installed PVC piping, backfilled, and temporary paved up to 27th Street. On Monday (Nov. 18), the crew that is at 27th Street will proceed northward to work between 27th and 26th streets. Some time between Monday and Thursday, a second crew will be added to begin work at 14th Street and work southward. When that happens, Bay Ave will be closed between 14th and 34th Streets and a police traffic director will be stationed at 14th Street. Until that happens, Bay Ave will be closed between 24th and 34th Streets.

Traffic

Over the weekend (Nov. 16-17), Bay Avenue will be open to two lanes of traffic with lane shifts around stored materials and equipment. As mentioned above, Bay will be closed from 34th to 14th street upon the second crew commencing work. Prior to the second crew beginning work, Bay Ave will be closed from 34th to 24th. Traffic detours will be established to divert motorists to West Ave.
