City of Ocean City, NJ - Office of Emergency Management

Special Weather Statement:

3:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2019

The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory in effect for Ocean City from 7 p.m. Wednesday (July 3) through 1 a.m. Thursday (July 4).

A higher-than-normal new moon tide is expected to cause minor street flooding. Flooding also could occur with high tides on Thursday and Friday evenings.

Water levels are expected to peak in the hours around high tide on the bay side of Ocean City at 9:38 p.m. Wednesday. Forecasters project a tide of 5.6 feet on the mean low water scale (MLW). This projection falls into the category of “minor” tidal flooding. Visit www.ocnj.us/octides to compare these predictions to other recent and historic tide levels.

Residents should monitor conditions and be prepared to move vehicles from areas that typically experience tidal flooding. The roads closer to the beach including Central and Wesley avenues are typically at higher elevation.  For your safety and the protection of your vehicle and neighboring properties, never attempt to drive through flood waters, and do not drive around barricades.

For Police & Fire Department emergencies, call 911. For non-emergencies, call 609-399-9111.
