The four-masted Sindia ran aground in a nor'easter 117 years ago on December 15, 1901. The tall ship came to rest just off the beach at 17th Street in Ocean City.

On Saturday (Dec. 15, 2018), historian John Loeper will tell the story of the foundering ship and the rescue by the men of U.S. Life Saving Station 30.

The free talk is open to the public and will be repeated at 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. at the newly restored Station at the intersection of Fourth Street and Atlantic Avenue. The historic structure is home to examples of the same equipment used in the rescue.

Light refreshments and coffee will be served. For more information, visit U.S. Life Saving Station 30 on Facebook.
