July 17, 2026: The beach at First Street and St. Charles Place reopened on Friday (July 17), and the Ocean City Beach Patrol is maintaining two guarded swimming areas along that stretch. Sand-pumping operations are approaching Third Street on Friday. The work area is expected be extended to Fourth Street on Saturday (July 18) — with beaches closed in a work area from Second Street to Fourth Street (including Park Place). The guarded swimming beach at Brighton Place will remain open on Saturday (along with the two swimming beaches that opened today).

The beach entrance at Morningside Road has reopened, and the city is working to smooth out an ADA-compliant path adjacent to the vehicle access mats. Please keep this area clear of bikes and strollers so the contractor will have access for maintenance deliveries during the project.

In the first stage of the project, work is proceeding southward toward 12th Street. When that is complete, work will move northward toward Great Egg Harbor Inlet. Approximately 1,000 feet of beach (two blocks) surrounding the immediate work area will be closed to public access at any time. Sand-pumping operations will continue 24 hours a day for the duration of the project. Sand ramps will be constructed over the pipeline at all beach entrances as work progresses down the beach.

All projected timelines are subject to weather delays, equipment and logistics issues, and multiple other factors. Please check back regularly for updates.
