City of Ocean City, NJ - Office of Emergency Management

Special Weather Statement:

1 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2026

The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Cold Warning in effect for Ocean City from 6 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 7) through 12 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 8). A High Wind Warning will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 7).

Northwest winds will be sustained at 25 to 35 mph on Saturday with gusts beyond 50 mph. The overnight low is expected to be 8 degrees with wind-chill factors well below zero degrees Fahrenheit.

Please take precautions to prevent frozen pipes, including the following:

  • Make sure thermostats are turned up to 60 degrees.
  • Open cabinet doors to let heat reach plumbing.
  • Block wind from entering crawlspaces.
  • Open faucets to keep a trickle of water flowing. Our Fire Department has already responded to many water leaks throughout town.

Check on neighboring homes that may be unoccupied. Call the non-emergency dispatch number at 609-399-9111 if you discover water flowing from burst pipes.

Please write down the following emergency contact numbers for local utility companies should you experience outages or other problems during the upcoming winter storm:

  • Atlantic City Electric: 800-833-7476
  • South Jersey Gas: 888-766-9900
  • Comcast Cable: 800-COMCAST (800-266-2278)

The utility companies recommend you contact them directly as soon as you experience a problem so that they can properly track outages and repairs.

For Police and Fire Department emergencies, call 911. For non-emergencies, call police at 609-399-9111 or City Hall at 609-399-6111.
