Special Weather Statement:

4:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 2026

The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory in effect for Ocean City from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 1, 2026).

A full moon and strong northerly winds from an offshore coastal storm will combine to cause “minor” coastal flooding during high tide on Sunday morning.

Water levels are predicted to crest in the hours around high tide on the bay side (Ninth Street Bridge) of Ocean City at 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

The NWS predicts a peak water level of 5.8 feet on the mean low water scale (MLW). Visit www.ocnj.us/octides to compare this prediction to other recent and historic tide levels.

Residents should be prepared to monitor conditions and to move vehicles to safe places well in advance of this high tide. The roads closer to the beach including Central and Wesley avenues are typically at higher elevation. Parking is free at all municipal lots in Ocean City.

For your safety and the protection of your vehicle and neighboring properties, never drive on any street covered by water. Please do not disregard barricades on flooded streets. With temperatures remaining below freezing, please use extra caution on roadways even after the tide recedes. Roads could freeze over.

For Police & Fire Department emergencies, call 911. For non-emergencies, call 609-399-9111.
