Dear Friends,

After this morning’s high tide, the worst of the storm is now behind us. The forecast does not call for significant flooding with tonight’s high tide at 9:30 p.m.

The city team has begun the process of assessing damage throughout the island and is starting to clean up. Atlantic City Electric is aware of the remaining power outages on the island and is waiting for floodwaters to recede in certain neighborhoods so that they dispatch their restoration crews.

Because of water at the base of the Ninth Street Bridge, the outbound lanes of the Route 52 causeway were closed this morning. One outbound lane will be reopened shortly. (Update: All lanes of the bridge in both directions are now open.)

I want to ask everyone to stay off streets covered by water. Driving through floodwaters poses a risk to your own safety, to your own vehicle, and to properties damaged by the wake that you create.

I will meet with our Public Works team to discuss a plan to help residents with cleanup. Regular trash and recycling pickup is on schedule for 34^th Street to 59^th Street tomorrow.

This has been a major weather event. I want to thank everyone for working together to get through it. Please be patient as we work to clean up, and please continue to check on your neighbors and make sure they have everything they need.
