Halloween Events

  • Halloween House Decorating Contest: Judging for the second annual Halloween House Decorating Contest in Ocean City will take place on Wednesday and Thursday (Oct. 27 and 28). A list of winners and participants will be posted here on Friday, so everybody can check out all the homes and businesses that were decorated in the spirit of the holiday. See list of winners and contestants below.

  • Halloween Costume Skate: The Ocean City Skate Park at Fifth Street and Asbury Avenue will celebrate Halloween 4 p.m. to dusk on Saturday, Oct. 30. Skateboarders are invited to come dressed for the holiday. There will be prizes for best costume and best trick, and candy for the participants.

  • Trick-or-Treating: Hours for traditional trick-or-treating will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31. Ocean City will make free door hangers available to identify every home that will put out treats. This system will make it easier for trick-or-treaters to find participating homes, and it will limit interactions with homes not participating. Starting at noon Tuesday (Oct. 26), the free door hangers can be picked up during business hours at City Hall (861 Asbury Avenue), the Ocean City Community Center (1735 Simpson Avenue), the Roy Gillian Welcome Center on the Ninth Street causeway, or the 46th Street Welcome Center (4518 West Avenue). They also will be available at the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Welcome Night 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 27) at the Ocean City Civic Center (Sixth Street and Boardwalk). A printable version is available here: OC_Halloween2021_Doorhanger.pdf .

Safety tips that can be followed include:

    • Wear reflective clothing
    • Young children should be accompanied by an adult
    • Obey the pedestrian safety laws – It is dark and vehicle drivers may not see you
    • Carry a flashlight
    • Costumes should not restrict visibility
    • Do not open any candy until you get home and your parents inspect the items
    • Report any suspicious person or activity to the police immediately

  • “The Addams Family” (School Edition): Students in grades 7 to 12 will star in a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family. The iconic TV show is now an award-winning Broadway musical. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5 and 6 at the Ocean City Music Pier. Tickets $15.
