FUN N’ FITNESS SUMMER CAMP

The Fun N' Fitness Summer Camp staff is hoping to see you and your child this summer. We are offering the Fun N’ Fitness Summer Camp for ages 4 to 10 year olds. Camp will be full of splashing fun, lots of glue, and fitness challenges. The children will be kept busy in the morning program with fun sports and games, a swim lesson and pool playtime. Later we fuel up with a snack and make a crafty memento to take home each day of camp. Camp will provide outdoor activities, swim lessons and a trip once a session. Qualified camp counselors guide you through many facets of Fun-N-Fitness.

"We're off to sail the rollicking sea, pirates all are we!" But Arrrr! and Shiver me timbers! There's a stowaway on board! Perhaps the King of the High C's will know what to do. Join the salty crew of colorful scallywags when Bluebeard, Yellowbeard, Whitebeard, Purplebeard - well, you get the picture - along with the No Beards, hoist the Jolly Roger and set sail for a mighty adventure! Campers will also attend the Tuesday morning Children's Theatre Series at the Ocean City Music Pier.

Jr. Guard Competition Team is a program geared toward rescuing skills and competition. This is for the junior who has great water skills, strong swimming and is looking to perfect the sport of surf racing.   

(Requirements 11-12: Swim 300 meters in 8:00 mins or less - Run 1/2 mile in  4:30 mins or less) 

(Requirements 13-15: Swim 300 meters in 7:30 mins or less - Run 1/2 mile in 4:15 mins or less) 

Additional testing will be in the 100 meter swim and 100 meter dash.

The Ocean City Nor’easters are proud to be hosting summer camps in Ocean City NJ. The Nor’easters have prepared the curriculum and are ready to host the best soccer camps the shore area has seen. The Nor’easters are putting on a Mini Kickers program for players aged 4-7 to introduce them to soccer with fun games and a Half Day camp for players aged 7-14. The camps in the past have been seen as a fun way to get into soccer as well as a great way to get a lot of touches in a fun atmosphere for the more experienced players.

Backyard Birds and Bugs (June 24 - June 28)

Birds and insects are amazing creatures. This week teaches all about those found right here in OC. Learn how to use binoculars and how to identify different species of birds. Explore the many special adaptations insects and bird possess. Dissect owl pellets, make a bird house and try some local honey. Create insect crafts and conduct experiments. Walk to local parks to bird watch and find different insects!

Crabby Catchers (July 1 - 5)+

Learn the fundamentals of crabbing in the bay. Cast nets and traps to see if a crab can be caught! Learn about the different crabs and critters that live in the bays and beaches. Go on a crabbing boat and catch some blue claws. Friday will be a beach day exploring the northern end of our island. See where hermit crabs and ghost crabs live!

Boardwalk Science!+ (July 15 - 19)

Explore the wonderful world of force, motion, and energy and how they relate to many boardwalk attractions. Do various experiments to illustrate force, gravity, and motion function. Play with stomp rockets, design roller coasters, and test what you have learned with an egg drop experiment! On Thursday, travel to the boardwalk to visit an arcade, play a round at Golden Galleon Golf and ride on Pier 9 Go Karts.

Pirates of the East+ (July 22 - 26)

Ahoy Matey! Get ready to embark on a pirate’s journey. Create a pirate name and take the pirate code.  Learn about the lives of real pirates like Blackbeard, Anne Bonny, and Sam Bellamy. Try hardtack and create a treasure chest. Find some hidden treasure and make many pirate crafts. On Thursday we venture to the Sea Dragon for a real voyage on the Great Egg Harbor Bay.

The title tells it all! Spend a week getting down and dirty in the world of slime goo and chemicals. Conduct experiments, make slime, and learn about chemical reactions. Make a bouncy ball and see how high it can bounce. Restore pennies, and create an explosion!

 Beach accessible program for mobility/limited individuals of all ages. Now “Surf Chairs” can provide an opportunity for everyone to enjoy the surf and sand. Must use from 46^th St.pick up facility or have large vehicle to transport.

SHUTTLE CHAIRS

Beach Accessible Wheelchairs (Surf Chairs) are located at the following life guard stations: 1st Street, 12th Street, 34th Street, 59th Street - All these locations have public restrooms)

These chairs are used for shuttling a person to your spot on the beach, transfer them to a regular chair, and returning the surf chair back the lifeguard station so another person can use. Once you are ready to leave the beach, you can bring the surf chair back from the lifeguard station to shuttle your person up and off the beach.

Shuttle chairs can only be used on that lifeguard station's beach i.e. you cannot use the chair to push a person 3 blocks down. Shuttle chairs must be returned quickly so others may use. There is no reservation needed for a shuttle chair. It is on a first come, first serve basis. You will need to have someone who can push the chair with the person in it. Lifeguards cannot push people to their spots.

HANDICAPPED BEACH ACCESS & RESTROOMS
Handicapped beach access is provided at Stenton Place, 1st, Pennlyn, 3rd, Park Place, 4th, Brighton Place, 5th, 6th, Music Pier, 11th -18th, 20th, 26th, 35th - 46th, 50th - 59th Streets.
 Direct access at 23rd, 29th, 30th, 34th, 48th, 57th Streets and Morningside.

Accessible bathrooms are located on the Boardwalk at 1st, 6th, Moorlyn Terrace, and 12th Streets.

REGISTRATION POLICY

All registration for activities are handled on a first come, first serve basis for residents and seasonal vacationers. Program announcements will be distributed through schools and at www.ocnj.us.

Any program requiring a deadline for registration will be noted on the program information flyer. A waiting list will be maintained for some programs. If an opening becomes available in a closed program that space will be offered to the first person on the waiting list.

The Ocean City Community Services Department and the Division of Recreation Programs reserves the right to cancel or make changes to any program due to lack of registration, inclement weather or reasons beyond our control. Programs, dates and times are subject to change due to the availability of facilities.

Program cancellation due to inclement weather will be posted online at www.ocnj.us or call (609) 525-9304.

The Division of Recreation insists that a child should never be left at an activity or program before the person in charge arrives to accept responsibility for that participant. It is the obligation of the parent or guardian to be aware of program schedule and times.
