Annual Half Marathon and 5K Run Sept 30
|Date:||September 20, 2012|
The City of Ocean City will hold the annual Half Marathon and 5K Run on Sunday, September 30 at 9:00 a.m. The race begins at 9thStreet and the boardwalk. Race participants will enjoy a fast, challenging, scenic course that winds through the streets and boardwalk in Ocean City.
“This race was modeled after the Fenton Carey Half Marathon, one of the first half-marathon races in this area,” stated Wendy Moyle, Manager of Recreation Programs for the City of Ocean City. “This race takes advantage of the beautiful fall weather in Ocean City and runners will get to see the uniqueness of our island—everything from the downtown stores to the Gardens’ residential homes.”
This year the City added a 10-mile non-competitive walk that will have the same start and course as the half marathon. Registration for the half marathon takes place through September 29. The City will not conduct race day registration for the Half Marathon. The first 400 pre-registered runners will receive a commemorative race day t-shirt.
Families of four or more receive a discount on their registration. Race day registration for the 5K and 10-mile is from 7 a.m.-8:30 a.m. Participants can register by calling 609-399-6111 or by visiting the race website at www.ocnj.us, clicking on the Recreation Tab and choosing race events.
The race proceeds will benefit Ocean City Recreation scholarships and programs. Sponsorship and volunteer opportunities for the race are available. For more information, please click HERE or contact Lisa Rumer at 609-525-9317.
