Fall Food Drive Sept.17th thru 21st

The City of Ocean City and the Atlantic County Utilities Authority have partnered for the annual Fall Food Drive to benefit the Ocean City Ecumenical Council’s Food Cupboard.
The Ecumenical Council will hold the food drive from Monday, September 17 through Friday, September 21. The Council asks residents to fill any bag with cans or boxes of nonperishable food items and place at the curb by 7:00 am of your recycling day. The ACUA recycling crews will pick up the food and take it to the Food Cupboard. Additional drop off locations include City Hall, Community Center, Henry S. Knight Building and St. Peter’s United Methodist Church.
Stickers indicating the bagged items are food donations will be available at City Hall, the Community Center and the Henry S. Knight Building during normal business hours and at local churches and businesses.
The Ecumenical Council’s food cupboard is located on the first floor of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church at 501 East 8thStreetin Ocean City. The food cupboard is open to all residents in need at no cost. Volunteers from the nine local churches that make up the Ocean City Ecumenical Council staff the food cupboard.
The most needed items for the food drive are: canned fruits, meats, potatoes and vegetables, cereal, crackers, dry milk, Hormel microwave meals, jelly, juice, macaroni & cheese, pasta, peanut butter, pork & beans, ramen noodles, ravioli, rice, soup, Spaghetti O’s, spaghetti sauce, teabags and tuna. The Ecumenical Council requests residents not donate frozen or perishable items or food in glass containers.
