WOOFIN’ PAWS PET FASHION SHOW, APRIL 7TH WILL HELP RAISE FUNDS FOR HUMANE SOCIETY
OCEAN CITY, N.J. --- The popular Woofin’ Paws Pet Fashion Show normally attracts over 100 entrants. An array of dogs, cats and miscellaneous creatures, obediently accompanied by their best friends, will compete for ribbons, Sat., April 7 starting 11 a.m. at Carey Stadium, 6th St. off Boardwalk.
The event kicks off an array of Easter Weekend activities.
Woofin’ Paws has always been a fund raiser for the Ocean City Humane Society. It has taken on added significance in recent years as the Society has been working to capacity due to the Recession. The facility is coping with an additional volume of animals from owners who can no longer afford to care for them.
A $5 entry fee for pet entries in Woofin’ Paws supports the Society. Spectators are admitted free but may leave a donation on site for the Shelter. A donation jar will be placed at the Humane Society table. Contributions may also be made by sending a check to the Ocean City Humane Society, PO Box 1254, Ocean City, N.J. 08226.
The Ocean City Humane Society is a No-Kill Shelter named one of the best for its size in the country. It is located at 1 Shelter Rd. off Bay and Tennessee Avenues. An array of friendly pets is available for adoption. Call (609) 399-2018.
Registration for the competition begins 10 a.m. the day of the show. The contest is open to “any pet that will not eat another pet” and features many colorful and humorous entries. Categories include Best Dressed Dog, Best Dressed Cat, Best Dressed Pet, Bathing Suits, Intelligent Pet Tricks, Most Patriotic, Best Tail Wagger and Pet-Owner Look Alike.
Best of Show wins the Dean Schofield Woofin’ Paws Plaque for Perfection, named after the late Dean Schofield who was a volunteer member of the Ocean City Public Relations Staff for many years. Call (609) 525-9300.
