Active Activities
PLAYGROUND ACTIVITIES
A supervised program for children to play games and participate in arts & crafts. Tons of games, crafts and a different theme for every week!

FITNESS/DANCE CLASS
This class is a dance based and high energy conditioning fitness class. This class is designed to maintain strength and flexibility conditioning as a vital portion that is necessary in practicing safe tumbling. AGES: 7 - 12 yrs.

The Aquatic & Fitness Summer Camp staff is hoping to see you and your child this summer. We are offering the Fun N’ Fitness Summer Camp for ages 4 to 10 year olds. Camp will be full of splashing fun, lots of glue, and fitness challenges. The children will be kept busy in the morning program with fun sports andgames, a swim lesson and pool playtime. Later we fuel up with a snack and make a crafty momento to take home each day of camp.Camp will provide outdoor activities, swim lessons and a trip once a session. Qualified camp counselors guide you through many facets of Fun-N-Fitness.

AQUATIC
The American Red Cross Learn to Swim program teaches youngsters to swim and be safe in, on and around water. We teach 5 progressive levels. Starting with Level I where the most (elementary) beginning swimming skills are taught, thru Level 5 refining the competitive strokes.
Registration is limited. Registration for summer swim lessons begins June 1 in person only at the Aquatic & FitnessCenter, 1735 Simpson Ave.

Casting will begin the first day of camp for a two-week rehearsal process. Do you hear the beat? It’s the sound of people entering the theater on the most famous street in the world. It’s the sound of dancing feet and orchestras tuning up. It’s the sound dreams are made of. It’s the sound of Broadway! Celebrate musical theater with hits from Hairspray, The Music Man, The King and I, Wicked, Rent, Grease and a medley of George M. Cohan favorites. Other camp activities will include theatre games, singing, movement/dance and acting exercises.

Sandy Sticks Field Hockey Camp offers an outstanding curriculum, designed to improve the skills of young players. Campers develop their skills in a supportive and inspirational atmosphere, while being challenged daily to do their best.
Campers are grouped by age and years of experience, and coached by some of the best area coaches, collegiate players, current field hockey league officials, and top high school athletes. A low camper to coach ratio is one of the many positives at Sandy Sticks.

This camp will introduce the participants to the follow aspects of the fire and rescue profession: fire safety, CPR, basic first aid & intro. to firefighters tools & skills.

Ocean City Summer Rowing Camp
This camp introduces people that are 12 years and over the sport of rowing.
Camp will be held evenings 5:00 – 7:30 pm at the 34th Street Dock
Session 1: July 22-25

Session 3: August 5 – 8
Session 4: August 12 – 15 (Adults Only Class)
Championship Regatta August 19
Cost is $250.00 per person, each rower will receive a camp t-shirt and participate in the camp championship regatta. Early registration discount of $25.00 before June 30th. Family discount if 2 or more rowers from the same family: second family member or more will receive a $50.00 discount.
Bayside Center Camps
Bayside Camp offers ecological classes and workshops through the summer season. Classes have a maximum of seventeen students unless otherwise noted. Students are encouraged to bring a snack daily (due to allergies, please no peanuts) and wear sneakers as there are games in which involves running and other physical activity. All camp classes include a workbook to keep, experiments, hands on activities, live animals, movies and games. Some camps require a permission slip for field trips! A certified, highly qualified science teacher supervises the curriculum of the Bayside Camp. All classes are $80. Campers must be between six and eleven years old and all camps run from Monday to Friday from 9 am to noon. ***denotes a dissection class. +denotes a field trip.

Nature’s Rage
Why do different areas on Earth experience different weather patterns? How are the Sun and the Moon involved in Earth’s weather? Hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes, meteor impacts, blizzards and derechos are just some of the natural disasters that will be explored. Explode a volcano using diet coke, make a tornado tube, construct the surface of a planet and create meteor impacts are just some of the experiments this week.
Pirates***
*All new redesigned class* Become a member of the Bayside clan (Captain Machete Blare and the Purple’s crew on the dreaded pirate ship, “The Green Turtle”) and learn about the area of the world known as the Spanish Main. Receive your pirate name, job on board, construct your pirate flag, pick your animal, learn about famous pirates and stage a mutiny! Build and float boats as you learn about buoyancy, salinity of the Seven Seas, how the submarine was invented in New Jersey and try to find buried treasure as you learn about water and sand! Take an incredible journey into the world of brackish water.

Exploring the Shore***
Why are bays and estuaries so important to coastal areas? What fish, birds, reptiles, mammals and invertebrates live around camp? Go crabbing off the docks and observe specimens. Why is the Sindia so important in Ocean City and how did it sink? Learn about boat building, waves and the moon. Create “soap boats” to race, scuba divers, participate in the 2nd annual Bayside Water Olympics and take an incredible journey into the world of brackish water.
Water, Water Everywhere

Open OceanSharks- Sharks have been on Earth for over 400 million years and are considered living fossils (they were around when dinosaurs were roaming the Earth!) Learn about the relationship of sharks and people as we study great white, bull, tiger, the oceanic white tip and the dogfish shark.
Forensic Science- Ever wonder how police solve a crime? Become Bayside Detectives by designing your badge, picking out and naming your K-9 dog, collecting fingerprints, learn how to process a crime scene, and discover how science can help solve crimes. We will collect, record and analyze data and investigate “evidence” to solve the great Bayside Museum crime! Help us solve this NEW crime!

Birds of the Barrier Island+
Birds are an important part of the bay, beach and island ecosystem. Many different species of birds nest on the salt marsh, scavenge for food, eat pests, warn of upcoming weather and steal french fries on the boardwalk! Make bird feeders, bird callers, go birding and learn what they eat as you go on a bug hunt.
Cool Chemistry+
What are matter, density, salinity, reactants, solutions, mixtures and solutes? What do pennies and toothpicks have to do with chemistry? Recreate Frankenstein’s hand, make a sandwich bag explode, capture the ice cube, turn milk to glue, play the penny cup game, make ice cream and slime and balloon races are just some of the experiments for this week.

Discover the wonderful ecosystem of the beach! Learn what animals you can see on the beaches of Ocean City! What will you find lurking when we take a field trip to the beach? Experience a Bayside Camp sandcastle contest! Explore marine biology, animals that may be swimming or lurking nearby and tides. Conduct experiments about sand, salinity, ice and water.
Sports Science+
Study the science behind football, baseball, basketball, soccer and hockey. Each day learn the physics around a new sport and how pro athletes use science to achieve new levels! Play different games as you learn how teams chose their mascots and the laws of motion, force and friction.

Mythical Creatures***
Know more about mythical sea serpents, magical mythical creatures and their mysteries. Learn more about mythical dragons and magical beings. Discover the power of folklores, mythical legends and stories behind the beasts. Delve into the world of mythology. Read lost folktales, hear about paranormal sightings and learn about the myths that have inspired fantasy worlds. Some creatures included in this class are the Jersey Devil, the Yeti, Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot and the Leprechaun.
Sharks, Rays and Skates***
Cartilaginous fish are the subject of this class. How are they similar and different? The manta ray, eagle ray, skates, whale shark, cookie cutter and Greenland are just some of the fish you will study this week.

Egyptian Science***
Learn all about ancient Egypt as you build pyramids, learn about the desert ecosystem, discover the rock cycle, find buried treasure and create mummies. Learn about animals such as the cobra, salt water crocodiles, bull shark and the scorpion.
Superhero Science
Learn about the physics, chemistry and science around some of the most famous superheroes of all times. Create and design your cape, choose your side kick, study the planets and creature your vehicle as you enter the world of crime fighting. Study animals like the penguin, bat, marine mammals, big cats and spiders.

Wild Kingdom***
Why can polar bears survive in the Arctic and not in the tropical rainforests? How can some animals change colors? Study animal adaptations, ecosystems and the strange and unique as we “travel” from continent to continent. “Camp out” at Bayside as you learn wilderness skills. Go crabbing off the docks!
New Jersey Sharks***
What is lurking off the coast of New Jersey during the summer months? Why do they “disappear” when the seasons change? Study the more than 50 species of sharks that call our state their home. Examine teeth, tails, eyes and other shark adaptations.
LEARN TO SAIL ON THE
The Ocean City Sailing Foundation is offering sailing lessons to Juniors and Adults.
Classes are held at the Bayside Center, 520 Bay Avenue, starting June 17 through August 24.
Our OCSF mission is “to promote sailing to youth and families in the Greater Ocean City area by providing safe, affordable sailing instruction and sailing opportunities.” All instructors are US Sailing Level One certified. Most classes have a student to instructor ratio of 4:1.
Four half-day lessons cost is $250. Family discounts are available. Private lessons are also available each day from 4:30 to 6:30 pm, cost is $130 for up to three students. Youth students must be eight years of age and must be able to swim.
