Emergency Alert System

Emergency Notification Signup with CodeRed:

Thank you for your interest in signing up for Ocean City’s Emergency Notification System. We are proud to offer this new service to the public. An Emergency Notification System gives those in charge of Public Safety a chance to reach out to the public in case of an emergency event. This system, combined with our other emergency alert methods, is designed to get emergency messages to you the public, quickly and effectively. This does not preclude you from calling 911 if you need emergency information; it simply provides an opportunity for us to disseminate critical information to you if and when the need arises. The reason for this form is to gather as many means of contact as you may have, so that in the event of an emergency that affects Ocean City, we can notify you in multiple ways.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • We maintain a constantly updating database of all land line telephone numbers registered in Ocean City. Feel free to list any additional land line phone numbers, however we are most interested in gathering cell phone numbers and email addresses.
  • If you have an Ocean City address, please provide it in the Street Address field, in the event of a localized emergency your local address will integrate with the notification systems mapping capabilities.
  • This information will remain in the custody of the Ocean City Office of Emergency Management at all times, and will only be used for Emergency Notification purposes.

We appreciate you taking the time to share this important information with us!

Please make sure you visit the Emergency Notification System  site to enroll.

Thank You

The Code Red Emergency Notification System consists of a network of broadcast stations, across the Nation and across the State, with equipment designed to allow the automatic transmission and broadcasting of emergency messages. Alerts pass from station to station and on to the air automatically, without human intervention. The State Office of Emergency Management activates the Code Red for State-level alerts and the County Office of Emergency Preparedness activates the Code Red for countywide and local alerts. The Code Red incorporates coding that allows specific locations to be alerted, so that only affected areas receive the alert, so as not to alarm locations not affected. The Code Red allows alert information to be digitally coded, along with standard audio information, so that television stations can have a crawl that displays the text of the alert for hearing-impaired citizens. EAS was designed to be a cooperative effort between government agencies and local broadcasters.During emergencies, the Office of Emergency Preparedness advises you to monitor radio and television for important announcements and updates. These stations are part of the EAS as well as work cooperatively to speed emergency information to the residents of and visitors to Atlantic County.Emergency information is broadcast on the following radio and television stations:
